Overseas markets were mixed Tuesday, with most Asian exchanges higher and most in Europe lower. U.S. equity market futures hovered near unchanged as well, with S&P futures up 0.50 points to 1,309.50.
Gold and oil futures posted fractional declines ahead of the U.S. equity market open. The yellow metal dipped $0.50 to $1,434.00 per ounce, while oil fell $0.22 to $105.22 per barrel.
Crude oil dropped to as low as $103.33 in overnight trading amid reports that additional nations may work to raise production, and that Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi is considering stepping down.
