Gold turned lower in mid-day trading Wednesday, sliding $11.88 to $1,329.44 per ounce.The drop in gold coincided with a modest bounce in the U.S. Dollar Index, which advanced 0.3% to 77.26. The dollar’s rebound followed yesterday’s slide below 77, for the first time in 12 weeks.
The broader U.S. equity markets were mixed, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) higher by 1.85 points at 12,042.01 and the S&P 500 Index lower by 2.70 points at 1,304.89.
