(From GoldAlert.Com) Gold futures for April delivery on the COMEX rose $3.50 to $1,388.60 per ounce on Friday.With today’s advance, gold futures climbed $28.56, or 2.1%, this week, marking its third straight weekly gain.COMEX silver futures, per the March contract, rallied $0.73, or 2.3%, to $32.296 per ounce. Silver reached an intra-day high of $32.87 before paring its gains in afternoon trading. Nonetheless, this was the latest in a series of new 31-year highs for gold’s sister precious metal. For the week, silver futures posted a gain of $2.41, or 7.9%.The strength in precious metals was accompanied by further weakness in the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY), which slid 0.4% to 77.64 Friday afternoon.
